News release: Children prepare to light up Bedminster

Children at Victoria Park Primary School are preparing to take part in this year’s Bedminster Lantern Parade.

Artist Alan May will join them at 9.30am on Friday 21st November to put the finishing touches to their creations for the parade - one large lantern inspired by 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe' and 40 individual creations.

The school is also celebrating the success of Y4 pupil Hafsa Khalif in designing the winning poster that will now publicise the event across south Bristol.

This is the first year that Victoria Park Primary has taken part in the parade which has now been running for four years.

Year Four teacher Elizabeth Jefferies said:

“As it is getting dark earlier, creating light through lanterns is a really inspiring art opportunity and a fantastic way for children to be part of a community event.”

The Bedminster Lantern Parade starts at 4.30pm on Saturday 6th December along North Street, East Street and finishing at South Street Park.
