News release: Victoria Park School gathers local talent to open new art room

Six artists who have worked with children at Victoria Park Primary School over the years were back in school on Friday 2nd October to open their new art room.

The £12,000 refurbishment took place over the summer holidays so the 420 children at the school would return to a dedicated art studio. The opening came just in time for the Art of the Hill trial where the school was open on Saturday 3rd October for visitors to view the children’s work.

Head teacher Jack Lacey said:

“Victoria Park has strong community links with local artists through our involvement with Art on the Hill, the Art Week and the Bedminster Lantern Parade. Our specialist art teacher can now teach in the same room every day, with fantastic materials and the studio will be used for after-school and community actitivies.”

Lauren Clifford aged 10 said:

"I love the art room because it a full fun and creativity and there is always something arty going on."

Local artists who have worked with the school and came in to run actitivies and officially open the new room are David Bowers, Sarah Duncan, Sue Rosewarne, Damien Jeffery, Carolyn Hacker and Andy Council.
